To hit the bull’s eye: chegar ao centro do problema.

Jesus’ answer to the your family problem hits the bull’s eyes: forgiveness is the glue that can repair broken relationship.

 

CAT

To let the cat out of the bag: contar um segredo sem intençâo.

Be careful with your mouth. You have to be extremely careful not to let the cat out of the bag and hurt someone.

 

To be like a cat on hot bricks: ter muita energia, ser nervoso.

Thomas as like a cat on hot bricks on the morning of his marriage. He was so nervous that he walked around his car and refused to eat his breakfast.

 

To grin  like a Cheshire cat: estar com um sorriso hiper aberto por pura felicidade.

I´m sure that you can grin like a Cheshire cat after all of that.

 

To put/set the cat among the pigeons: causar confusão e barulho.

Don’t say this, or you’ll set the cat among the piggeons.

 

DOG

To make a dog dinner of something: fazer um serviço malfeito.

He insisted on painting his new flat himself, but he made a dog’s dinner of it. It looks worse than he bought it.

 

Let sleeping dogs lie – não tentar convencer alguem de velhos argumentos.

Henry will never share your religious beliefs, so why not let sleeping dogs lie. Don’t try to convince him any more!
