          Wish & hope são duas palavras que se confundem muito para os estudantes de inglês  Na lição de hoje, Luiz Antonio fez algumas perguntas sobre esta dúvida. Ele é brasileiro e deseja tirar suas dúvidas neste assunto. Espero que vocês gostem. Alguns exemplos: Usando hope: I hope Jack has a good time on his vacation next month. I hope Jenny can pass her exam. I hope the Yankees win the game tonight. HOPE pode ser traduzido como: Eu espero, eu desejo. É uma esperança que alguma coisa venha a ocorrer. Usando wish: I wish I were taller. I wish I had a better job. I wish I had a million dollars. I wish my boss would do give me a day off soon. I wish Jack would quit smoking soon. Podemos traduzir como: Eu gostaria, Eu desejaria. Também exprime vontade. Usa-se " wish " da seguinte forma: I wish you happiness .(Te desejo felicidade.) I wish you every success .(Te desejo todo sucesso do mundo.) E assim por diante... Usa-se " hope

HOW COME YOU CAN´T GO TO MY BIRTHDAY?   How come…? é uma forma mais informal de perguntar porque (Why). Exemplo:  Example 1: Jack: I can’t go to Johnny’s party tomorrow. Jenny: How come? Jack: Because I have to work late. Example 2: Jack: Would you like some more coffee? Jenny: No thanks. I’m trying to cut down. Jack: How come? Jenny: Because my doctor said too much coffee is not good for my stomach. Example 3: Why is Jack late? → How come Jack is late? Why did Jack miss the party? → How come Jack missed the party? Why are you going there? → How come you are going there?

Usar expressões faz com que soe mais natural quando você fala num idioma estrangeiro. Hoje eu vou ensinar 5 expressões ( idioms)  com a palavra HAND. Espero que você comece a usa-las no seu dia a dia.  Caught red-handed: (pego em flagrante) Bob was caught red-handed sleeping in the office. Joey’s wife caught him red-handed with another woman at a cafe. Get out of hand: (fugir do controle) Everyone was arguing at the meeting so it got out of hand. The police came when the party at the college dormitory got out of hand. Have the upper hand: (posicão mais alta) The workers have the upper hand over management. In tonight’s baseball game, the Yankees have the upper hand. Know something like the back of your hand: (conhecer bem algo ou alguém) I know NYC like the back of my hand because I was born and raised here. Yalcin knows computers like the back of his hand. ADVISE  É VERBO (VERB)    ADVICE É SUBSTANTIVO (NOUN) Examples: When a consultant advises (verb) people, he gives them advice (noun). If you take my advice (noun), you'll stop seeing her. I can advise (verb) or I can give advice (noun). Take my advice (noun)! I asked his advice (noun). She is good at giving advice (noun). We would willingly advise (verb) you.
