Expressing Surprise and Interest Native speakers of English often use short interrogatives in speech as a way to express attention, interest, or surprise. Dunno Esta palavra é usada informalmente no inglês falado, principalmente adolescentes quando não querem responder a seus pais. ‘When do you have to submit this essay?’ ‘ Dunno .     Se você costuma ler histórias, jornais ou principalmente assistir filmes ou séries em inglês, possivelmente já tenha se deparado com frases que continham a expressão “ …supposed to… “. Na verdade, a expressão completa contém o verbo to be na frente, ficando “ to be supposed to “. E nas frases, o verbo to be é conjugado em suas formas normais, seja no presente, passado ou futuro. Sendo assim, você precisa aprender a conjugar o verbo to be (nível básico do inglês) para poder compreender o tópico de hoje. Em tese, a expressão be supposed to indica algo que a pessoa deve saber/conhecer/fazer e que já tenha sido previamente combinado ou esteja implícito na frase. Exemplo: “ People are not supposed to drink when they go to drive “. Esta frase está no presente, na terceira pessoa do plural (they) e portanto a conjugação do be inicial é are ( they are ).
