Como ler datas em inglês


Em português a gente fala as datas na seguinte ordem: dia - mês - ano. Por exemplo: Dia 31 de maio de 2013 ou se quiser abreviar: 31/05/2013
Em inglês haverá variação dependendo se for o inglês britânico ou o americano. 

INGLÊS BRITÂNICO
Na Inglaterra segue-se o nosso padrão d/m/a, porém o dia é lido em forma ordinal. Algumas pessoas usam a palavra the antes do dia, mas isso é opcional. Veja alguns exemplos:
  • 30/05/2013 – 30th May 2013 – the thirtieth of May twenty thirteen;
  • 22/12/2003 – 22nd December 2003 – twenty-second of June twenty oh three
INGLÊS NORTE-AMERICANO
Nos EUA usa-se a forma m/d/a (mês/dia/ano), ou seja, o mês vem primeiro. Costuma-se usar uma vírgula antes do ano, porém é opcional. No mais, é bem parecido com o inglês britânico. Veja exemplos:
  • 16/02/1961 -> 02/16/1961 -> February, 16, 1961 -> February the sixteenth, nineteen sixty one;
BC e AD
Dependendo da situação, usa-se também as expressões BC e AD após a data. A primeira é a equivalente ao nosso a.C (antes de Cristo) e a segunda é a equivalente ao nosso d.C. (depois de Cristo). BC significa literalmente antes de Cristo, enquanto AD tem origem na expressão latina Anno Domini, que quer dizer no Ano do Senhor (ou in the year of the Lord, em inglês).

Os meses do ano podem ser abreviados, com as 3 primeiras iniciais (Jan, Feb, Mar, etc), com exceção dos mês de Maio (May), Junho (June) e Julho (July), por terem já nomes pequenos.

Não se esqueça que os dias serão sempre em números ordinais:
1st - first
2nd - second
3rd - third
4th - fourth
5th - fifth
6th - sixth
7th - seventh
8th - eighth
9th - ninth
10th - tenth
11th - eleventh
12th - twelfth
13th - thirteenth
14th - fourteenth
15th - fifteenth
16th - sixteenth
17th - seventeenth
18th - eighteenth
19th - nineteenth
20th - twentieth
21st - twenty first
22nd - twenty second
23rd - twenty third
24th - twenty fourth
25th - twenty fifth
26th - twentysixth
27th - twenty seventh
28th - twentyeighth
29th - twenty ninth
30th - thirtieth
31st - thirty

Conforme me comprometi, cá estão alguns exercicios com o verbo to be no present. São vários. Tem alguns bem simples, outros mais complicados, vale a pena você se arriscar. Verbos Irregulares em Inglês

Embora os verbos irregulares se constituam numa pequena minoria em relação a todos os verbos existentes na língua, a frequência com que ocorrem é muito alta, o que lhes dá uma importância significativa. São todos de origem anglo-saxônica e se referem predominantemente a ações comuns. Os verbos irregulares do inglês são aqueles verbos que não seguem a regra geral de formação do Passado e do Particípio Passado. A formação do  Past  e do  Past Participle,  de acordo com a regra geral, que se aplica a todos os demais verbos, se dá através do sufixo  - ed . Portanto, todo verbo que não seguir este padrão, será classificado de irregular. All the auxiliary verbs except be, do and have are called modals. Unlike other auxiliary verbs modals only exist in their helping form; they cannot act alone as the main verb in a sentence.
