Idioms and expressions em English – Text: It´s no Wonder
É muito comum em qualquer língua o uso de expressões
idiomáticas. Lá vai um exercício para o nível básico com o exemplo de seu uso
cotidiano.
Como utilizar em sala de aula:
1. Leia rapidamente com a sua turma o texto, sem se
preocupar em traduzir nada. Dê uma cópia do texto para eles, com as expressões
em negrito. Se for passar na louça, sublinhe as referidas expressões.
2. Explique o significado das expressões e leia novamente o
texto. Pergunte o que eles entenderam. Peça para eles repetirem cada uma das
expressões.
3. Leia com eles o texto, parando a cada ponto para que eles
repitam.

Saratov, Russia, One day, Olga Petrovic isn´t feeling well. She
goes to the doctor in her small town in southern Russia.
“What´s the matter?”
he asks.
“I have a stomachache. And I´m running a fever”, she tells him.
The doctor
takes an X-ray. He´s shocked when he looks at it. There´s a 12-inch piece of
metal in Olga’s stomach.
“That´s takes the cake! he thinks. No wonder she has a stomachache.”
Olga
remembers an operation she had 25 years ago. Apparently, the surgeon made a big mistake and left a medical instrument inside her.
“We
need to get rid of it,” says the doctor. “You need an operation”.
Olga has cold feet and wants to put it off. But her doctor wants her to have the operation right away. Now the medical instrument is gone and Olga is
recovering.

as folhas. Você imprime as figuras com as expressões e mostre-as para a classe
e a classe tem que acertar o significado. No verso da folha você escreve a
expressão em inglês para que eles confiram se acertaram.

DOCTORS MAKE A BIG MISTAKE
San Francisco, CA, USA. One day, Richar Kearney, 47, has an operation on
