Present Continuous 1

Utilizamos o Present Continuous para indicar ações que estão em andamento. Ou seja, quando estamos “no meio” da ação. Sua forma é

Verbo to be + verbo+ING

I'm studying English
Eu estou estudando inglês.

He is having lunch.

Ele está almoçando.

Afirmativo	Forma Abreviada	Tradução
I am working	I’m working	eu estou trabalhando
you are working	you’re working	você está trabalhando
he is working	he’s working	ele está trabalhando
she is working	she’s working	ela está trabalhando
it is working	it’s working	Está trabalhando *
we are working	we’re working	nós estamos trabalhando
you are working	you’reworking	vocês estão trabalhando
they are working	they’re working	eles(as) estão trabalhando

Não se esqueça: It é usado para coisas e animais, mas também serve como sujeito oculto. Exemplo: It is raining. A tradução será: Está chovendo. Estamos traduzindo para o português e devemos seguir também as nossas regras de conversação. Ficaria muito estranho traduzir: "Ele está chovendo.", concorda?

Regras:

Os verbos que terminam em VC (vogal + consoante) dobram a última letra, desde que essa sílaba seja tônica:

Sit –> sitting (sentar - sentando)
Swim –> swimming (nadar - nadando)

Run –> running (correr - correndo)
Forget–> forgetting (esquecer - esquecendo)

Veja este caso:
open –> opening (abrir - abrindo)

visit –> visiting (visitar - visitando)

Repito: Não dobra a letra já que, apesar de terminar em Vogal  + Consoante, não é a sílaba tônica

Por fim, os verbos que terminam em “e” perdem a vogal final e acrescenta-se “ing”:

have -  having

live - living

make - making

What are you doing? I‘m having a sandwich.
O que você está fazendo? Estou comendo um sanduíche.

Present Continuos  - Negative

You are not working.	You’renot working You aren’t working.	Vocês não estão trabalhando.
They are not working.	They’re not working. They aren’t working.	Eles(as) não estão trabalhando.

Present Continuos - Interrogative

Are we working?	Nós estamos trabalhando?	Yes, we are. No, we aren’t.
Are you working?	Vocês estão trabalhando?	Yes, you are. No, you aren’t.
Are they working?	Eles(as) estão trabalhando?	Yes, they are. No, they aren’t

Em algumas situações, para expressar um sentimento negativo ou opinião, podemos usar o Present Continuous. Neste caso, este tempo verbal é usado para reforçar a ideia de rotina, repetição.

• The neighbour’s dog is always barking. (O cachorro do vizinho está sempre latindo)
• It’s always raining in England. (Está sempre chovendo na Inglaterra) 
• She is constantly complaining about the weather. (Ela está constantemente reclamando do tempo)

Ele também pode também expressar a ideia de que algo irá ou não ocorrer num futuro próximo.

• He isn’t joining us for the football match tonight. (Ele não irá jogar com a gente a partida de hoje à noite)
• Is she going to the picnic this afternoon? (Ela vai ao piquenique hoje à tarde?)
• I am not doing any more work today. (Eu não estou fazendo mais nenhum trabalho hoje)

Existem algumas expressões indicadoras deste tempo verbal, sendo as mais comuns: now, right now, at this moment.

he - sing a song - at this moment.
Afirmativa - He is singing a song (Ele está cantando uma canção neste momento.)
Negativa - He isn´t singing a song.
Interrogativa - Is he singing a song?

4. It - sleep - now
5. I - teach German - right now
