Normalmente a preposition  to é seguida pela forma basica do verbo principal. Mas existem inúmeras exceções a esta regra quando  to é seguido por um verbo no   gerundio . Vamos dar uma olhada bestas situações. Exemplos: Look forward to + gerundio: I am looking forward to taking a vacation in October. Jack is looking forward to seeing his family in St. Louis next week. Muitas são as pessoas que falam que inglês é uma língua dificil de aprender. E uma das coisas que as vezes confundem são as "Silent Letters". É muito normal alunos perguntarem por que elas existem, para que elas estão lá se não são pronunciadas, porque a gente não escreve como fala. E muitos poucos ainda perguntam quais são as regras das palavras com letras silenciosas.  Você que as  pode pensar que as letras mudas em inglês não são importantes já que não são pronunciadas, mas isto não é verdade, pois elas fazem uma imensa diferença no sentido geral da palavra, além de muitas vezes, apesar delas não aparecerem com som, elas darão "peso" na pronúncia. Se você olhar para a história   da língua inglesa,   você vai ver que cerca de 90% de Inglês costumava ser fonêmica (isso significa que as palavras soavam d o mesmo que eles olhavam ) .
