Usando o CAN


 

Can é uma palavra muito versátil e possue muitos usos no inglês. Vamos dar uma olhada em alguns usos.

Nós utilizamos CAN para falar sobre habilidade, habilidade esta que vem após uma certa prática ou repetição.    
  • Can you cook well?
  • How many slices of pizza can you eat?
  • Do you know if Jenny can sing?
Nós usamos CAN  para falar sobre conhecimento, e geralmente este conhecimento vem após uma certa prática ou estudo.
  • Can you speak Japanese?
  • I think Chris can answer any type of grammar question.
  • Do you know if Jenny can understand this math problem?
Nós usamos CAN  para falar sobre a oportunidade de fazer algo.
  • Tourists in NYC can experience so many things.
  • In a university, you can meet many students from various countries.
  • You can find all kinds of books in that shop.
Nós usamos CAN para expressar dúvida ou surpresa diante de uma situação.
  • The teacher spoke so fast. You can’t have understood him.
  • Jane is three hours late. Where can she be?
  • It can’t rain tomorrow! We are supposed to have a beach party.
Nós usamos CAN para expressar permissão
  • You can watch TV after you finish your homework.
  • In some states, you can drive 65mph on the highway.
  • Mom said I can have a second piece of chocolate cake.
Nós usamos CAN para pedir permissão
  • Can you help me with my homework?
  • I’m thirsty. Can I have a cool drink?
  • Can we take a break from studying now? I’m tired.
Nós usamos CAN para pedir sugestão ou oferecer algo
  • We can take a break now if you’d like.
  • Joe: What do you want to eat for dinner?
  • Bob: We can order pizza!
  • Joe: Or, we can go out and have a burger.
Nós usamos CAN para  falar sobre situações corriqueiras
  • Working long hours can be dangerous for your health.
  • Be careful of that dog. He can be quite aggressive.
  • Bosses and teachers can be quite demanding.

A negativa é feita acrescentando o NOT. A abreviação é CAN´T.
We can not rest here. It´s very dirty.
It´s true. We can´t  because it's very small and dirty.

Conforme me comprometi, cá estão alguns exercicios com o verbo to be no present. São vários. Tem alguns bem simples, outros mais complicados, vale a pena você se arriscar. Qualquer dúvida, pergunte em sala de aula ou aqui. Puxa, acho que já é o suficiente por hoje. Verbos Irregulares em Inglês

Embora os verbos irregulares se constituam numa pequena minoria em relação a todos os verbos existentes na língua, a frequência com que ocorrem é muito alta, o que lhes dá uma importância significativa. São todos de origem anglo-saxônica e se referem predominantemente a ações comuns. Os verbos irregulares do inglês são aqueles verbos que não seguem a regra geral de formação do Passado e do Particípio Passado. A formação do  Past  e do  Past Participle,  de acordo com a regra geral, que se aplica a todos os demais verbos, se dá através do sufixo  - ed . Portanto, todo verbo que não seguir este padrão, será classificado de irregular. Past Tense - Regular Verbs - Pronunciation

The past tense verbs in English with an  -ed ending  are pronounced in  three different ways : [t] [d]  or [Id] . For example, if I say the past tense verb “ walked “, as in, “I walked away,” what is the last sound that you hear in the verb? “Walk ed ” [wak t ] 1) The -ed verb ending sounds like a [t], “Walked” [wakt], even though it ends in the letter “d”. What do you hear when I say: “smell ed “, as in, “it smell ed  bad.” 2) The -ed verb ending sounds like a [d]: “smelled” [smeld] And when I say, “visited”, as in “I visited New York City”, how did I pronounce  that “-ed” ending? [Id]  [vizitid]. 3) The -ed verb ending sounds like [ ɪ d], [vizitid]. This lesson teaches you the three rules that explain the differences in past tense verb “-ed” pronunciation.
